Hyvion partners with the YMCA Camp Tecumseh Marketing Team for a unique drone training
BROOKSTON, IN – Camp Tecumseh, a pillar of the Carroll County community for nearly 100 years, has teamed up with Hyvion to expand its impact and invite campers from across the Hoosier state to participate in a meaningful summer experience. Hyvion’s Founder and CEO Zach Huffman, alongside drone pilot Ben Kane, hosted a two-day training session with Camp Tecumseh staffers. The goal is to integrate drone usage into marketing efforts and promote growth in the number of seasonal campers.
Camp Tecumseh was founded in 1924 after the residents of Carroll County joined to purchase 30 acres of land on the banks of the Tippecanoe River. Since then, the camp has provided generations of Hoosiers with memorable adventures, including hiking, rock climbing, and canoeing.
The camp will celebrate 100 years of operation in 2024, thanks to community investments and partnerships that help it thrive. Due to those efforts, Camp Tecumseh was able to complete the largest capital improvement in its ten-decade history. $10 million worth of upgrades can be seen in the brand-new cabins, dining hall, additional housing for staff, and improvements to the mini farm and river lodge.
These enhancements were something the Camp Tecumseh marketing team wanted to highlight in a unique way, which led them to Hyvion. Huffman and Kane traveled to the campgrounds for two days of immersive training. The staff members were taught drone basics that could be integrated into their marketing efforts. Additionally, Hyvion helped prepare staff for the FAA Part 107 exam, which is an essential requirement for commercial drone operations. The certificate demonstrates an understanding of the regulations, marketing requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones.
The partnership between Hyvion and Camp Tecumseh was personal for Huffman. He attended the camp for nearly 10 years while also serving as a staff member through his high school and college careers.
“It felt great to have the opportunity to give back to a place that gave me unforgettable childhood memories.”
“It was a full-circle moment for me,” said Huffman. “It felt great to have the opportunity to give back to a place that gave me unforgettable childhood memories.”
Since its inception, Camp Tecumseh has dreamed of a place where children can explore the outdoors, build lifelong friendships, and develop the character, compassion, and confidence necessary to lead the next generation. The addition of drone training to staff has provided a new tool that can further success for centuries to come.
