Huffman Leads Drone Panel for Midwest Broadcast Associations

The Midwest Broadcast & Multimedia Technology Conference welcomed Hyvion founder and CEO, Zach Huffman, to lead a panel on drone use. The MBMTC is held annually in Columbus, Ohio and serves as a collaborative conference between the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Broadcasters Associations.

The panel provided insights on the impact and necessities that drones have provided for both the growth of broadcast production and engineering support. Stephen Hartzell, a legal partner at Brooks Pierce LLP who specializes in FAA and FCC policy, as well as Rob Meissee, owner of Mid-State Multimedia group who has incorporated the technology into all aspects of their broadcast group joined Huffman for the discussion.

“Sharing the capabilities of drones, and discussing what’s next for the industry will continue to help grow drone use throughout broadcast organizations.”

“Sharing the capabilities of drones, and discussing what’s next for the industry will continue to help grow drone use throughout midwest broadcast organizations,” said Zach Huffman.

The panel provided insights to a full ballroom, sparking conversation and new ideas across the attendees. The discussion was focused on the Federal Aviation Administration’s updates to regulations as well as new drone gear being released. Huffman reminded attendees to be proactive in their flight planning techniques which can help prevent reactive situations placing people and gear in danger.

Additional topics covered included the practicality of tower inspections, and incorporating journalistic integrity into flight planning. At the same time this event transpired, Hyvion’s flight crews were actively displaying the remarkable difference drones make at multiple television productions throughout the midwest.
